The Abundance of Grace: A poem of God's blessings
O, Source of Light, whose breath began the day, Whose silent promise lights the pilgrim's way, We lift our gaze from shadows and from dust, To Thee, our Anchor, and our only Trust. From the deep wells of life, our praises rise, For the bright cascade of Thy mercies in our skies.
🌅 I. The Blessings of Creation
The morning breath that chills the window pane, The simple sight of sun and falling rain, Are blessings penned in colours vast and deep, A covenant the earth and cosmos keep. The mountain's strength, the valley's quiet grace, Reflect the glory of Thy dwelling place. The scent of pine, the wild rose by the stream, The silent grandeur of a waking dream; The ocean's roar, a hymn of power untold, The tiny oyster sheltering the pearl of gold. Thou hast not stinted, Lord, but poured it free, A boundless, breathtaking tapestry.

The food we gather from the fertile ground, The seeds of promise where new life is found, The cycle whole, from sowing to the yield, The steady seasons walking through the field— These gifts of provision, constant and profound, With daily sustenance, our days are crowned.
💖 II. The Blessings of Love and Kinship
But greater still than light or leaf or stone, The precious love that we have come to own. The beating heart beside us in the night, The shared laughter, morning's pure delight. The blessing of the family, bound by care, A sanctuary from the world's despair. The clasp of friendship, loyal and sincere, That dries the bitter, solitary tear. The gentle wisdom passed from age to youth, The patient guiding to the solid truth. These bonds are woven by Thy tender hand, The warmest shelter in a weary land. Thou art the Love, and where true love is known, We see the mirror of Thy Heavenly Throne.
✨ III. The Blessings of the Spirit
For inward peace, we raise our grateful plea, The silent presence that resides in Thee. The blessing of conviction, clean and strong, That tells the heart the difference between right and wrong. The gift of hope that rises in the chest, When every earthly refuge is distressed. The quiet strength to face the coming tide, With Thee as Pilot, and with Thee to guide. The grace of healing, not just of the frame, But of the soul consumed by doubt and shame. The steady comfort that a prayer can bring, The lift of spirit on an unseen wing. Thou fillest gaps that sorrow leaves behind, The sweet assurance in the troubled mind.
🛠️ IV. The Blessings of Challenge and Growth
Yet, we must thank Thee for the shadows too, For lessons learned when skies were not so blue. The blessing of the burden, hard to bear, That makes us stronger, tempering our prayer. The disappointment, forcing us to cease Our selfish striving, and pursue Thy peace. The crucible of fire that refines the gold, The truth that only hardship can unfold. For every challenge that has made us turn, And seek the wisdom we were slow to learn. For though the path seemed steep and overgrown, It led us closer to Thy saving throne. The very failure, when it humbles pride, Is grace that draws us closer to Thy side.
🎁 V. The Ultimate Blessing
But all these gifts—the light, the love, the growth— Are lesser signs of Thy most solemn troth. The ultimate great blessing, past compare, The cross endured, the love beyond despair. The boundless mercy, purchased by the Son, A victory forever, fully won. The promise sealed, of life that cannot end, Where tears are wiped, and sorrows find their mend. That we, who stumble, broken, lost, and frail, May walk at last beyond the earthly veil, And stand absolved, redeemed, and pure of stain, In Thy own Presence, where true joys remain.
So let us live this day, and every one, In awe of all the marvels Thou hast done. From fleeting moment to eternity's vast span, Thy blessings follow Thy created man. Amen.
